Individual Development Plan and myIDP

HOBI doctoral candidates are responsible for developing and conducting all work leading toward their dissertation, including but not limited to literature review, data collection, data management and analysis, and writing. Doctoral candidates will collaborate with their mentor to establish expectations for conducting dissertation work to be approved by the student’s Supervisory Committee. Approved dissertation work expectations are recorded in the student’s annual Individual Development Plan (IDP) via the Science Careers myIDP Interface by December 1. Once completed, students must upload a copy using the form below.

Dissertation research may require the involvement of other individuals in certain activities, for example when data are collected by other individuals under the direction of the Primary Mentor. In cases where the dissertation requires use of state claims and data maintained by the department, it may be necessary for certain other department staff or faculty who have access to these data. Any exceptions to the student’s direct involvement in activities leading toward the dissertation must be approved by the student’s Supervisory Committee and documented in the student’s IDP.
