Several of our department’s students and faculty members participated in the UF Health Cancer Center’s annual Research Showcase on February 12, 2025. Student Sara Tohme shared a winning poster in the category for Predoctoral Students. The poster summarized research on educating vulnerable women on self-testing for the human papillomavirus (HPV).
Tohme is also a UF Health Cancer Center Ambassador and is mentored in our department by Ramzi Salloum, Ph.D.
One of the poster winners for pre-graduate students, Harold Bishop, who is mentored by our department’s Jennifer LeLaurin, Ph.D., shared the project: “Relative advantage of mobile health smoking cessation treatments: An analysis of care team perspectives in a comparative effectiveness trial.”
LeLaurin, along with several other HOBI faculty members and five Community Scientists, served as poster judges for the event.

Another researcher and coordinator in our department, Emma Bryan, spoke about being a part of the 167 presenters at the event.
“I was really excited to be able to present qualitative research that has important implications for enhancing family-centered care and the development of an intervention for cancer patients and their family caregivers,” Bryan said.
