Workplace and Community Engagement
HOBI is partnering with the Ronald McDonald House (RMH) to help with its Visiting Chef Program! The Ronald McDonald House of North Central Florida has been helping families with seriously ill children in our region since 1982. The House is located about 1 mile from Shands Hospital.
As part of the Visiting Chef Program, we invite HOBI faculty, staff and students to coordinate a small group (4) to prepare a dinner for the RMH. For those interested in volunteering, the Workplace and Community Engagement Committee has funding to support purchasing food to serve at the RMH.
The button below shares a Visiting Chef Program Flyer that contains sign-up instructions and information. When signing up on their website (Ronald McDonald House | Visiting Chef Program Sign-Up Calendar), sign up as “UF HOBI”. Please reach out with any questions to Dominick Lemas (djlemas@ufl.edu) and/or Nicole Hammer (nicole.hammer@ufl.edu) on how to coordinate dinner, help with coordinating a small group (4), and tips on cooking for large groups!
Providing a meal is a fun way to get involved with friends, family or co-workers, and it contributes to the Ronald McDonald House’s mission of providing a “home-away-from-home” for families who often face exhaustion after a long days at the hospital.
Your group will need to be prepared to cook for 50+ people and include: a protein, starch, vegetable, drinks, and dessert. Please keep a photo of the grocery receipt for the reimbursement/expense report. This is required. Once the grocery shopping has been done, use the button below to process a refund.
