The UF College of Medicine honors its pursuit of exceptional research on Tuesday, February 10, at the second day of the Celebration of Research. The Department of Health Outcomes and Biomedical Informatics (HOBI) will feature many faculty members and students competing for awards for their posters and noteworthy accomplishments.

At last year’s event, HOBI postdoctoral associate Rola Zeidan, Ph.D., won a community health award for the research poster “Iron levels in Postmenopausal Women.” A fellow in Translational Aging and Mobility since 2023, Zeidan investigates the molecular mechanisms that affect aging.
Judging of this year’s research posters will take place during the afternoon’s Poster Session and Reception at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center. Attendees are encouraged to visit the HOBI informational table from 4 to 7 p.m.
Symposium Speakers
In the morning, join the Research Symposium online or in person to hear some of the latest efforts from HOBI and other departments in the College of Medicine. Starting at 9 a.m., a presentation will feature two HOBI leaders, Elizabeth Shenkman, Ph.D., and Yonghui Wu, Ph.D., and Andres Pumariega, M.D. from the Department of Psychiatry. They will present on “Translational Science and Research: The Intersection of Clinical Expertise, Health Care Delivery, and Generative AI.”
We are also anticipating the premier of two video profiles of HOBI instructors Todd Manini, Ph.D., and Qianqian Song, Ph.D. Manini specializes in gerontology and serves as HOBI’s Division Chief of Clinical and Population Health Integration. Song is a HOBI Assistant Professor and Director of Director of Translational Bioinformatics at the UF Health Cancer Institute.
