
Department of Health Outcomes and Biomedical Informatics (HOBI) faculty members will be sharing their research at the UF Health Cancer Institute’s Cancer AI Symposium on Nov. 5, 2025. The event also welcomes students, trainees and researchers to participate in a hackathon or present their work on AI applications in cancer research, with a registration deadline of October 15.

Qianqian Song, Ph.D., an assistant professor in HOBI, will begin the day by sharing perspectives as one of the three leaders of the Cancer AI Working Group. The group’s co-leaders are Kiley Graim, Ph.D., from the Department of Computer & Information Science & Engineering, and Ali Zarrinpar, M.D., Ph.D., from the Department of Surgery.
During the lightning talk session, Rui Yin, Ph.D., an assistant professor in HOBI, will present research on AI-driven identification of RNA modifications in cancer. This project started with a pilot grant from the center, and recently it expanded to a three-year effort based on an award from Florida’s Department of Health.
For the hackathon, participants will pre-select several problems and work on solving them before the symposium. Top performers will share their efforts during the event, and students will be eligible for awards.
