Dima Bteddini, a dedicated Ph.D. student concentrating in Health Outcomes and Implementation Sciences, has been awarded a Certificate of Outstanding Merit by the UF International Center and College of Medicine. This prestigious recognition acknowledges her exceptional achievements and contributions to academia and research during her time as a student and graduate research assistant within the College of Medicine’s Department of Health Outcomes and Biomedical Informatics (HOBI).

Bteddini’s research focuses on the application of implementation science principles in the domain of tobacco control, with a particular emphasis on novel tobacco products within a global health context. Her passion for community-based participatory research has shown through her work, including the design, implementation, and evaluation of public health programs. She works with Dr. Ramzi Salloum, Director of HOBI’s Division of Health Outcomes and Implementation Science, on two projects: PHOENICS, and the Prevention of Vaping and Tobacco Product Use Among Rural Youth in Florida.
Bteddini received the Certificate of Outstanding Merit based on her academic performance, publications, presentations, and noteworthy accomplishments during her tenure as graduate student in medical sciences since 2021. She has published two articles as the first author in the journals Addictive Behaviors and Tobacco Control and presented her research at national and international conferences including the Annual Symposium on Global Cancer Research and Society for Research on Nicotine and Tobacco.
Bteddini, who is a native of Lebanon, will be officially acknowledged at the International Student Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, along with other students for their accomplishments at UF. Bteddini’s remarkable journey in academia exemplifies not only her outstanding academic achievements but also her commitment to making a meaningful impact on public health.
