Carma Bylund, PhD, a HOBI professor and director of education, was voted to be inducted into the UF College of Medicine’s Society of Teaching Scholars (STS) by its members in February.

STS is a professional organization in the COM’s Office of Educational Affairs that aims to honor and foster teaching and educational scholarship within the college. Members are asked to mentor junior faculty on teaching improvement and serve in an advisory capacity to the Faculty Development Committee and College of Medicine Education Center (COMEC). The Society also sponsors the annual “Medical Education Week” that features lectures and workshops on relevant educational topics. Current members of the Society are responsible for selecting new members based on nominations and a teaching portfolio.

Bylund was chosen based on her “ongoing commitment to education” and for being an “exemplary role model to other faculty, fellows, and students,” as written in her new member acceptance letter.

Her induction into the Society will occur at the Annual Celebration of Excellence in Medical Education Reception on Tuesday, March 14, 2023.
