HOBI professors, Carma Bylund, Ph.D., and Yonghui Wu, Ph.D., were recognized by the College of Medicine with the 2022 Exemplary Teacher Award. This award is presented to up to 10% of the College of Medicine faculty nominated by their department chair. They are elected based on their teaching excellence of medical students, residents and fellows, physician assistant students, graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and mentorship of junior faculty.
Dr. Bylund joined the department last year as a professor in the Division of Health Outcomes and Implementation Science and director of education for HOBI. She is a behavioral scientist with international expertise in healthcare communication across the cancer continuum and in dementia. She also serves as editor-in-chief of PEC Innovation and associate editor of Patient Education and Counseling.
Dr. Wu is an associate professor in the Division of Biomedical Informatics and director of Natural Language Processing (NLP) at UF Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) and OneFlorida+ Clinical Research Network.
