Pandemic poses special challenges for scientist parents

HOBI researcher Michelle Cardel says the COVID-19 pandemic could lead to a lost generation of early-career scientist-parents– especially women and minorities. Among the biggest challenges: finding sufficient time for the focused attention needed to write grants, conduct research and publish results.

“All it takes is five minutes on Twitter to see how much people are struggling right now,” Cardel said in the July 31 issue of Science.
