HOP Press Release on Mouth and Throat Cancer Screenings Picked Up by American Dental Association, Science Newsline, and Health Canal

A press release featuring results from a research team with Yi Guo, Ph.D., research assistant professor in the Department of Health Outcomes & Policy, on mouth and throat cancer screenings among low-income, rural Floridians was picked up by the ADA News, the American Dental Association’s official publication, which has a readership of 235,500 people, in May.

According to the research study, black men have the lowest survival rates of mouth and throat cancer in the United States, and these rates have decreased even more in recent years. To combat this problem, UF Health researchers launched a five-month media campaign targeted at black men in some of Florida’s poorest counties.

Additionally, the study’s results were also featured in News Medical, HT Syndication, Science Newsline, and Health Canal.
