Betsy Shenkman, Ph.D., chair of the Department of Health Outcomes and Policy and director of the Institute for Child Health Policy, appeared on the podcast show Academic Minute in early September to discuss the Wellness Incentive and Navigation Project (WIN) in Houston, Texas. The project works with adults on Medicaid with both mental and physical conditions who are super-utilizers, a small percentage of Medicaid patients who account for almost 75 percent of Medicaid spending. The project aims to use scientifically rigorous methods to help them improve their health and become less dependent on the health care system.
